We are now able to offer pottery lessons at Aido’s Annascaul Cafe and Pottery. Working with clay is amazingly relaxing.
Children and other beginners are completely absorbed with the designs they were able to do with the clay. The adult classes we offer are a great gift idea for a friend or a member of your family. Did you know that the Normans introduced the potter’s wheel to Ireland in the 1200s. Or did you know that when the earlier pottery in Ireland had very little design or colour. How could it have. Things wer simple back then, The pottery in those days was prodced by burning wood and creating high termperatures that changed clay to ceramics. Pottery is still very popular in Ireland where each village produces its own original and beautiful designs.

When you come in you have the choice to paint your own cup or work on the wheel and throw your own piece. Lastly if throwing or painting your own cup is not for you then consider making a wall hanging where you can create your own mini world on a clay wall placque which can be hung. The process
We will fire the pieces and glaze them and you can then come and collect when they have been fired. Usually you can collect your bespoke pottery after three weeks. Have a look at this page where you will get a better idea of the product we offer . This was and is still a family busines.
