Our death cafe in Annascaul and the topic we discuss is spreading spreading by word. It is amazing that people have an interest in talking about death , or maybe it isn’t. The tea and cake environment is very conducive to free and easy conversation. All welcome.

Just to inform that there is another death cafe at Aido’s Annascaul Cafe And Pottery on February 2nd at 7pm .
These were all issues that we spoke of in last meeting
We started talking about getting back to “normal” which people say when they have children or other life changing experiences.” oh I can’t wait to get back to normal” but we forget that’s “now” is the New Normal so sometimes you can’t get back to the old ways.
So I suppose from this is important to accept what is happening in one’s life right now.
We spoke of Bithántaíocht where we get to visit other people’s houses for past time and for gossip.
We were then on a roll and got to Tiger and the Tao of Pooh.written by Benjamin Hoff which is an introduction to the Eastern belief system of Taoism for westerners.
We explored about being hurt when someone else is diagnosed with a disease. So for example how hurt do I get when my loved ones have a series illness.
These dead cafes do of course have a death theme in them, but we are really just having fun discussing how we can enjoy ourselves more and be true to ourselves.
The format of these meeting come from the layout and criteria that deathcafe use. Feel free to check them out as they have soem wonderfiul material on their site. The meetings are confidential, there is no agenda and no judgements are made . The Death Cafe is not a bereavement counselling forum. However it allows people a chance to openly talk about death and to be respectful of people’s ideas and points of view.
