History of Annascaul pottery

Annascaul Pottery  is now run by Aoife Phelan and Aidan Gillespie, Annascaul, Dingle (Tel 086 803 5464. Aoife’s mother set up the pottery in the late 70s with her husband Niall where they produced and sold the pottery in the village and also in Dingle at Dick Macks Yard , Green Street, .  Zack toook over the business in 2002 and worked here until 2016.

Pottery in Annascaul 

 

Annascaul is a fitting place for a pottery. Based in her workshop and studio in the village of Annascaul on the Dingle Peninsula,

Co. Kerry, Aoife Phelan designs, hand makes and hand decorates his range of individually crafted ceramics. 

 

Annascaul is a  fitting place to any pottery tour. Surrounded by prehistoric and early Christian archeological sites, the cafe and show rooms and workshop buildings cling to the sloping hill sof Meelin which looks over Inch Beach and the Iveragh Peninsula. Aoife learn her craft in Thomastown and form her mother Monica Phelan. She has  become one of country’s most original and interesting potters  

 

Aoife offers and implements poetry and decals in her pieces and  will offer 2 glazes. She has a delicate brushstroke provides design and trim. Her jade green celadon color  greenware or “green ware” is the glaze  she is using in 2023
