An Turas Mor is part of the Kerry County Council Homehoming event in Kerry in Oct 2022. For this Annascaul will have several enjoyable workshops available. Aido’s Annascaul Cafe and Pottery is running a mini festival October 14-16th with Annascaul Adventures. This festival welcomes the Irish Diaspora back to Ireland and to Kerry in particular as part of this 1 month get together.

The festival will entail the presentation of videos and images from various sources including:
National Library of Ireland, Annascaul Historical Society and private photos collections from Brendan Falvey, William Glasgow Howe , and others.
Annascaul Cafe and Annascaul Adventures have offered various workshops in the past. The following events will be carried out the weekend of Oct 14 to Oct 16th, 2022. The village is holding 5 workshops in the cafe and other locations this October as part of AnTuras Mor, Homecoming Kerry

Admission – Free . Donations will go towards the Annascaul Historical Society. The society is fundraising currently for village paving and memorial plagues. Have a look and listen to one of their presentations here
This Annascaul festival will highlight images from the village that are of interest to local residents of Annascaul and its diaspora. Thereafter, there will be a little talk about the images and then a discussion is given. Consequently, if you can provide images that are relevant this will be really welcome. This is ongoing and so we will continue to collect images ( for future events ) from anyone that has images or documents going back over 50 years and more . fireshow on oct 15th @7pm – free
As part of the An Turas Mor event Kerry County Council will have a fireshow in Annascaul on On Saturday Oct 15th at 7pm . These free shows have been running throughout the county and appeared during the Dingle Food Festival this year. They include firedragons, Puppets and druids working their magic with the night fire performance. On Sunday Oct 16th, We will run a book reading event as part of an turas mor in Annascaul. Sinead Rock does everything right in that her mndfulness books for children are really inspirational. Sinead follows her mindfulness class with yoga exercises or art.
This fantastic artist continually writes . Her books include “Those who believe in Magic will find it and “A Pocketful of Dreams” This is a reading session and hands on workshop session for children.
To demonstrate her classes create something lovely beginning with a reading, mindfulness and little yoga, – letting the kids write words that inspire them and energize them. Various aspects happen in this reading class. Firstly, the children can trade cards. Secondly, they will have a drawing class. Thirdly and to help with confidence they will use 3 words to describe themselves. As a result this sparks their imagination.

This work shop is with Liz Brookes and will work on creating an ” Indoor Garden”. She involves the use of flowers for design and for practical use. Using flowers you will be able to create elaborate and simplistic gardens. This too is part of the An Turas Mor in Annascaul series of events in October 2022

Portrait camera workshops
Camera Portraits with Margaret Kennedy – Sunday 16th at 2pm
Be part of history of modern day Annascaul and capture a moment in time. It is planned to take a group photo of every one living in the village the weekend of Oct 16th. There after it is possible to take individual photos connecting you with the day and the place this October This event is with Margaret Kennedy who is a very good portrait artist. Margaret is incredibly good at capturing the character of her clients within a photograph. She is able to combine the right technique with an artist’s expression.
